Location Determines Diagnosis
- Deep in the buttock, at the sit bone: typical for hamstring tendinopathy.
- Deep in the buttock with radiating pain: may indicate deep gluteal syndrome.
- Front of the hip or groin: FAI, labral tear, or iliopsoas irritation.
- On the side: gluteal tendinopathy, often exacerbated by getting into a car.
Practical Tips
1. Stand up every 30-45 minutes and move around briefly. 2. Adjust seat height: knees preferably slightly lower than hips. 3. Ring cushion or donut cushion for hamstring tendinopathy. 4. Avoid sitting on overly soft or low seating. 5. Strengthen core and gluteal muscles to reduce compensation.
