The European Hip Center (hereinafter "EHC", "we") attaches great importance to the protection of your personal data. This policy explains what data we process via europeanhipcenter.com, for what purpose, on what legal basis, and for how long we store it, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679, "GDPR"/"AVG") and the Belgian Act of 30 July 2018.

2. What data do we process?
- Identification and contact details, name, email, phone number, when you request an appointment or contact us.
- Health data, only when you provide it yourself in the context of a care request (special category, Art. 9 GDPR).
- Technical data, IP address, browser type, language preference, pages visited, strictly necessary for the operation and security of the website.
- Statistical data, anonymised or pseudonymised use of the website (subject to consent).
3. Purposes and legal bases

4. Retention periods
- Patient records: 30 years after the last contact (Patient Rights Act, Art. 9).
- Contact and appointment requests without a care relationship: 12 months, after which they are deleted.
- Server and security logs: maximum of 12 months.

- Proof of consent: 5 years after withdrawal or renewal.
5. Recipients and transfers
We do not share your data with third parties except with carefully selected processors (hosting, email, statistics) who act based on a data processing agreement. Transfers outside the EEA occur exclusively with appropriate safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses of the European Commission).
6. Your rights
You have the right at any time to:
- access, correct, or request the deletion of your data;
- restrict or object to the processing;
- withdraw your consent (without affecting processing carried out before the withdrawal);
- transfer your data to another controller;
- lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Authority (Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels).

7. Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures (encryption in transit, access control, backups, periodic audits) to protect your data against loss, misuse, or unauthorised access.
8. Changes
This policy may be amended in the event of changes to legislation or our services. The most recent version is always available on this page.
